Kurtos Kalacs catering service

Kürtőskalács (in Hungarian) or cozonac secuiesc (in Romanian) is a Hungarian spit cake originating from Transylvania, a region now located in the center and north-west of Romania. It comes in the form of a cylindrical caramelized brioche, cooked on a spit over a fire. The kürtőskalács is sold in pastry shops but more often it is prepared by street, beach or fair vendors.

In its composition we find: – plain flour – sugar – Egg yolk – Baker’s yeast – lemon zest – cinnamon – walnuts or almonds

This cake is very representative of the Transylvania region, and carries with it the history of this region: often coveted, long occupied, but which retains its own originality and identity! It is also called in English Chimney Cake (chimney cake).

We prepare this cake on Saturday mornings at the Saint-Dizier market, and also during fairs or private events.
